Summary

The Cybersecurity Engineer, Incident Response (this role can be remotewill serve as an integral member of the incident response team responsible for responding to threats against Wyndham systems, applications, information, and users. This role will be responsible for triaging, responding, and managing critical cyber security incidents in Wyndham’s global enterprise.  As an incident responder this role will conduct computer forensic analysis and investigative support in response to system compromise, malware outbreaks, suspicious emails, and cyber-attacks.  Incident responders are required to have a full understanding of chain of custody and evidence handling methodologies.  Candidates are expected to possess a well-rounded IT background with excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Proficiency in malware analysis, as well as the ability to perform live analysis on networks and across multiple platforms is desired. A general understanding of PCI requirements is preferred. This position can be remote.

 Responsibility                                                                                                

  • Support the incident response team by performing digital forensic investigations, log analysis, malware reversing, and after action reviews.                                                                                                     
  • Communicate effectively with peers and leadership regarding
  • Incident containment and remediation requirements                                            
  • Support internal investigations for Legal and Human Resources.
  • Perform analysis and remediation of suspicious email reporting.                        
  • Evolve the forensic program to incorporate new tools and automation.   
  • Serve as an Evidence Custodian to manage the handling and storage of evidentiary data related to security incidents when necessary
  • Assist in table-top exercises and security awareness events.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel for the job is required as necessary based on the location of a system that has potentially been breached, and the need to acquire evidence from that system in an “on-site” capacity.  Estimated travel:  10-15%. 

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

  • B.A. or B.S. from a four year accredited university, or commensurate experience
  • Five years of related industry experience
  • Experience performing Incident Response investigations
  • Ability to manage the day-to-day aspects of multiple IT investigations at a time
  • Competency in the tools, techniques, and methodologies surrounding incident response and computer forensics
  • Knowledge and experience in the following operating systems:  UNIX, Linux, Windows, MacOS
  • Possess an understanding of information security, network architecture, general database concepts, document management, hardware and software troubleshooting, and e-mail systems
  • Experience using computer forensic tools such as EnCase, FTK, or X-Ways
  • Experience performing malware analysis, suspicious email analysis, log review, and SIEM (Splunk) searches preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
