This Paralegal position has responsibility of assisting and supporting the attorneys in the Employment Law and Labor Relations Group in employment-related matters and lawsuits filed with governmental agencies and/or courts. Under supervision of Manager, Senior Counsel or Vice President, this position requires demonstrated legal experience with the ability to conduct research, gather and analyze information and documents, maintain confidentiality, establish priorities, anticipate needs and take initiative to timely and accurately meet deadlines, while creating a high-quality work product. This position interacts with other T+L employees, administrative agency representatives, and outside legal counsel, and assists other team member or supervisors as needed, to ensure Departmental objectives are met.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare responses to employment related subpoenas and claims filed with governmental agencies, including but not limited to drafting, legal research and collection of relevant documents

  • Work with in-house counsel, outside counsel and business partners to gather information and schedule witness interviews for internal investigations and litigation

  • Draft retention notices for relevant documents in employment cases

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Associate degree or two-year technical certificate a plus.

Training requirements

  • Paralegal Degree or Certificate or Legal Assistant certificate helpful but not required (legal experience may substitute).

Knowledge and skills

  • Advanced ability to research, analyze and apply Statutes, Codes and Rules applicable to employment laws. Detail oriented. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Possesses good written and communication skills.

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Employment law knowledge and experience a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

  • Must have developed proficiency in legal research, Internet and other sources.

  • Must be detail oriented.

  • Must be flexible in managing changing priorities and coordinating multiple projects and diverse responsibilities.

Job experience

  • Two years experience as a paralegal.

Unless there is a legal requirement, experience will be accepted for the education requirement.
