The Manager, IT Quality Assurance will manage the QA Leads and QA Analysts ensuring that software development projects are delivered with the highest quality possible. Ensure Quality Assurance processes are followed and executed throughout the QA cycle. Maintain a continuous knowledge of project schedules and their impact to Quality Assurance and GE & ITS as a whole.


Partner with the PMO, Delivery Teams, Business Entities and Technical Services to deliver high quality applications to the Business. Develop QA strategies and test approaches for assigned projects. Provide leadership and coordinate with Release Management to ensure proper allocation and scheduling of QA resources across multiple releases. Review and validate QA test estimates based upon project scope, complexity and testability. React quickly and take the initiative to address impacts of changing project priorities, schedules and requirements. Responsible for the successful management and control of activities within QA Test Planning, Preparation and Execution phases. Partner with Quality Compliance to ensure SOX processes are maintained by QA.

Duties:

  • Provide leadership and oversight of multiple QA projects assigned within the department
  • Ensure proper staffing levels to meet project demands; maintain responsibility for staff selection and training
  • Within the Rational Unified Process methodology, manage all appropriate QA activities and resources for assigned projects
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with PMO., Delivery, Business and Technology peers to insure effective allocation of resources and integration of QA activity within the overall project plan
  • Create and implement appropriate QA test execution strategies; oversee the development and review of the QA Test Plan for each project
  • Maintain and evaluate project metrics that provide insight into QA effectiveness and efficiency. Lead and actively participate in continuous process improvement activities
  • Provide leadership to QA team members for longer term department objective, i.e. staff development planning, performance evaluation, internal process improvement and improved customer relationships
  • Participate in the selection and implementation of select tools and technologies to be dedicated to testing efforts
  • Enforce test standards, guidelines and best practices aligned with compliance guidelines and IT goals


Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Information Systems or a related area
  • Minimum of 6 - 8 years experience managing multiple QA project activities within medium to large projects
  • 3 years with RUP or an equivalent industry standard methodology
  • 3-5 Years using Mercury Quality Center / Test director or other defect/test management tools
  • 3-5 years experience with performance and automated testing approaches and tools
  • Experience with full quality management lifecycle for application development preferred
  • Proven track record for working effectively with technical and business representatives
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze existing business functions and recommend alternatives with regard to tools and approaches to their use

Preferred technology experiences in the following areas:

  • Mainframe system
  • Web Services Architecture/Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Application Server Technology
  • Security Services and Security Access Controls
