SCOPE

The Business Analyst is instrumental to the successful delivery and ongoing management of the company’s business information systems. This role focuses on gathering requirements for custom application development and collaborates extensively with people across all areas of our business.  It is also the key to our relationship with our development partners, ensuring the accurate specifications and regular delivery of high-quality system enhancements.

Success in this role requires exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence and gain trust with business and development teams. It requires a deep understanding of the company’s objectives, processes, rules and system design.  This understanding is utilised to construct requirements and specifications for proposed solutions and managing the process through the entire development lifecycle, resulting in successful implementations with internal and external parties.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform business analyst activities, including
    • requirement analysis, business process modelling, and the creation of use cases/user stories, scenarios, business rules, and system diagrams
    • designs and specifications for software development with a Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) approach
    • defining UAT test cases for our Global Systems team and subject matter experts
  • Facilitate high-level business analysis with stakeholders globally, producing business proposals that describe the objectives, scope, resources, ROI and risks before a project commences
  • Work with the business to determine the priority of work, and manage the schedule and implementation of releases
  • Proactively manage key stakeholder relationships and lead workshops and meetings to elicit accurate business processes and requirements for core business systems. These systems include our inventory & reservations platform, website, CMS, data warehouse and analytics services.
  • Obtain acceptance from stakeholders on the deliverables to establish a starting point for the system delivery design
  • Display innovation through inspiring, creating and improving processes and products. 
  • Produce detailed Scope of Works including resource and time estimates, product documentation and application testing.
  • Manage communications between stakeholders, acting as a single point of contact for defined groups and facilitating open and transparent communication and discussion between stakeholders.
  • Take responsibility for investigative work to more clearly understand the business process and the system design before proposing appropriate solutions
  • Facilitate successful software releases with the Development and Global Systems teams
  • Manage the product backlog, assisting with prioritisation, delivery estimates, deliverables and schedules. Continuously monitor the status of items and coordinate internal and external resources to ensure timely definition, development, testing and release of business requirements
  • Manage regular system releases
  • Create and maintain system documentation and training material
  • Comply with all 7Across Policies and Procedures, as amended from time to time
  • Responsible for contributing to a safe, inclusive and collaborative working environment, free from harassment, bullying and discrimination
  • Show integrity in all aspects of the position by doing the right thing, taking responsibility and delivery on the promise.

KEY POSITION CRITERIA

Skills / Qualifications / Experience

Essential

  • 5+ years’ experience in an IT-related Business Analyst role
  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • AGILE development methodology
  • Behaviour Driven Development
  • MySQL Databases, tools, queries and scripts
  • Programming knowledge, including APIs, XML, WebServices
  • Web-based systems, including core application, CMS, public website, API
  • Intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Office suite of products
  • UAT experience, writing high-quality UAT Protocols
  • Documentation: Flow charts, business proposals, requirements, software specifications, tests, technical/release documents
  • Previous experience running requirements workshops with business, IT and development teams
  • Proven ability to work effectively with little supervision and as part of a team in the design, preparation and delivery of solutions
  • Proven effectiveness in working with vendors in conjunction with product owners for the development of new and enhanced features.
  • Excellent time management and work prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks with competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Strong business acumen
  • High level of analytical ability (problem solving). Desire to investigate, troubleshoot and understand all parts of the business and systems

Desirable

  • Business Analysis certification such as IIBA, CAP
  • Hands on experience in development management tools such as JIRA and Axosoft
  • Knowledge of System and integration testing
  • Project management
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills
  • Navicat, SOAPUI tools
  • Timeshare/Holiday accommodation knowledge
  • Knowledge of Financial and Marketing processes

Due to the global nature of the business this role may require travel and work outside of normal office hours from time to time.
